James (Jamie) Belleau is a shareholder of the firm of Skelton, Taintor & Abbott in Auburn, Maine. He is the firm’s hiring partner and has served on the firm’s management committee.

Jamie is a seasoned and effective trial lawyer who has used his courtroom skills and technique to successfully litigate a wide range of cases in Maine’s state and federal courts on behalf of individual, business and municipal clients.
Because of his breadth of experience in handling various types of disputes, Jamie can quickly identify issues and devise litigation strategies. With a keen understanding of the business aspects that are involved in any dispute, Jamie brings a practical and thoughtful approach to meeting the needs of clients in an efficient and cost-effective manner. He makes sure to keep clients well-informed throughout the case.

Jamie also has been selected to the 2010 New England Rising Stars list, featuring young lawyers in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.
He is admitted to practice in all Maine state and federal courts and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Jamie is a member and former president of the Androscoggin County Bar Association and a member of the Maine State Bar Association. He also belongs to the Maine Council of School Board Attorneys, Maine Trial Lawyers Association and Association of Trial Lawyers of America.
Jamie is active in civic and community affairs and formerly chaired the Zoning Board of Appeals for the City of Lewiston.
He also is heavily engaged in youth ice hockey. He coached the varsity team at Edward Little High School in Auburn for three years, winning two state titles, and currently serves as varsity coach at Lewiston High School, where he received the East Region’s Bob Boucher Coach of the Year honor from the Maine Class A Coaches Association. Jamie also served as the Squirt Director of the Lewiston Area Youth Hockey League and as President of the Elliott Avenue Little League.
Jamie also was involved in establishing the Skelton, Taintor & Abbott Cup in 2003, which is awarded annually to the Twin Cities Hockey Championship winning team, along with a $1,000 scholarship to a team senior to recognize hockey excellence, academic achievement, sportsmanship and financial need.
Born in Lewiston, Maine, Jamie is a graduate of Lewiston High School, where he was an All-State ice hockey player and the school’s scholar-athlete award winner. He played hockey at Bowdoin College and received his A.B., magna cum laude. He went on to graduate, cum laude, from the University of Maine School of Law.
